The Blue Ribbon Commission and its Oversight Committee, the Talbot County Council, the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce, and the Talbot County Department of Parks and Recreation are sponsoring a free one-hour breakfast workshop for businesses on how to assist their employees through personal difficulties, such as drug, alcohol or other troubles, while protecting their businesses at the same time. The breakfast will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, from 7 to 8 a.m. in the Wye Oak Room at the Talbot County Community Center in Easton.

The workshop speaker will be Judith Slaughter, a local expert, who for the last sixteen years has worked for such organizations as the Governor's Drug & Alcohol Abuse Commission, the Maryland Drug-Free Workplace Initiative, the Maryland Small Business Development Center, and Sheppard Pratt Health Systems. Slaughter also received a Training & Education Advocate Award from the US Small Business Administration.
